This year’s International Factory Automation System Show is the eighteenth trade show to be organized and hosted by the Korea Association of the Machine Industry to promote factory automation. Around 250 companies from 15 countries participated in the trade fair, which was expected to attract more than 25,000 visitors.

Solution developed exclusively by DI provides survey information to operators via sensing technology

'Doosan Machine Guidance' provides the operator with information on the work in progress - which is collected via four sensors attached to three operating parts on the machine - including the excavator boom, arm and bucket, as well as the excavator’s main body – and displays this on the monitor installed in the cab. The system can produce diverse information such as the slope, distance and depth of the excavation work in progress without any additional survey work, with a margin of error of less than 2 cm.

A representative of Doosan Infracore said: "The system reduces the need for surveying work and also the likelihood of accidents in the field. Once the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and the 3D technology have been upgraded, work efficiency will improve by as much as 30 percent.” He went on to say, “The system was officially launched in October.”

Doosan Infracore is planning to further upgrade this smart solution by linking it to the Machine Control technology that the company is currently developing. The Machine Control technology makes it possible for even unskilled operators to complete difficult tasks easily through trajectory-based operations. If an excavator is about to move outside the predetermined perimeters, the technology will automatically prevent it from doing so.

Doosan Infracore introduced a variety of other smart solutions at the Show, including DoosanCONNECT™, which is designed to enhance the efficiency of worksite management and equipment operation through remote equipment monitoring, and the 'Weighing System', which automatically measures a wheel loader’s workload and makes this information available to the operator.
