New High Performance Doosan 19 t Wheeled Excavator

The new Stage IIIB compliant 19-tonne DX190W-3 wheeled excavator has been launched by Doosan Construction Equipment. Like all of Doosan’s new generation excavators, wheel loaders and articulated dump trucks launched in the last two years, the DX190W-3 model goes well beyond just meeting the latest emissions regulations, creating a new industry benchmark by offering increased digging power, lifting capacities and faster working cycles with improved fuel efficiency to reduce costs and preserve the environment.


Substantial Performance Increase

With operating weights varying from 18.4 to 20.3 tonne, the Doosan DX190W-3 wheeled excavator is a true 18-19 tonne class machine.  Powered by the well-proven Stage IIIB compliant Doosan DL06KB 6-cylinder ‘common rail’ diesel engine, fitted with a waste gate turbocharger with intercooler as standard and developing 129.4 kW (174 HP) at 1900 RPM (SAE J1349), the DX190W-3 model offers more power than other machines in this class.  This is combined with a huge hydraulic capacity to produce the highest arm and bucket forces together with the highest traction force on the market. 

The new DX190W-3 wheeled excavator provides much higher performance than the Stage IIIA model:

- Engine power sharply increased by 9% while torque is up by 4%
- Traction force increased by 6% while swing torque is boosted by 16%
- Digging forces increased by 3% (bucket) and 13% (arm)
- Lifting capacities are sharply up in both the monobloc and articulated versions
   - Monobloc - 3% increase over the front, 24% over the side 
   - Articulated - 53% over the front and 22% over the side 
- In-cab noise levels reduced to 71 dBA (from 74.9 dBA)
- Up to 12% fuel consumption reduction


The DX190W-3 model is a very efficient machine, with factory tests showing up to a 12% reduction in fuel consumption, depending on the mode selected and the work being done.  A new ECO Gauge on the control panel monitors in real time the rate of fuel consumption and actual engine-percent load to help guide the operator to select the best operating mode for fuel economy.  Two new operating modes (P+ mode: Power Plus and L: Lifting) improve controllability and efficiency.  The Lifting mode is intended to facilitate the handling of heavy objects and materials on construction sites, a feature especially useful when working in narrow and confined spaces.

Three idling steps are now available, the first offering automatic idling to 1100 rpm after three seconds of no machine use; a low idle which can be set as low as 800 rpm and a One Touch Deceleration switch on the left joystick, giving the operator idling whenever they desire.  These idling capabilities and other features such as reduced fan operations owing to a new electronic clutch, contribute to the high fuel efficiency of the new excavator.


Increased Controllability and Operator Comfort

The new ROPS and OPG certified cab offers 6% more space for the operator, while a new cab suspension system helps to cut vibration by 20%.  Combined with a new cooling and fan system, this has helped to reduce the noise level in the cab from 74.9 to 71 dBA.  The excavator also features as standard a fully adjustable heated air suspension seat designed to reduce operator fatigue. 

A new 7-inch colour high quality visual control console offers an attractive display and excellent functionality.  All functions can be controlled both from the instrument panel as well as via a new jog/shuttle control next to the joystick, a feature exclusive to Doosan excavators. Forward/Neutral/Reverse (FNR) buttons on the joysticks allow the operator to change direction without removing their hands from the joysticks.

The cab is pressurised to prevent dust and dirt from entering this space.  Lighting capability has been increased by 100% to facilitate working at night.  A rear camera on the counterweight is standard and a side camera is available as a safety option.  An increased area of glass in the windows of the cab allows excellent all round visibility.  Other features include a slimmer steering column for improved visibility, a fully automatic climate control system, a USB port to play music and videos, and more storage compartments for paperwork and other items.  For better access to and from the cab, new steps have been added on the sides of the undercarriage.


Attachment Flexibility

A new attachment select and setting function is a standard feature of the controls, with 10 recordable preset values. The joysticks have proportional thumb wheel switches and integrated buttons to provide precise control of attachments.  The controls have an improved layout, with the most important switches grouped together within easy reach on the right console.  There is a larger tool box as standard on the left hand side and attachment compatibility is assured by the interchangeability of attachments for both the front and rear on DX190W-3 wheeled excavator.

Overall, the new DX190W-3 wheeled excavator provides new levels of comfort, ease of handling, optimum balance and high mobility for multi-tasking as a tool carrier for buckets, breakers, pallet forks, grabs and crushers for excavating, handling, carrying and other applications.  Moving easily between job sites at speeds of up to 35.7 km/h, the new wheeled excavator is ideal for medium sized projects in civil engineering, utility and road projects, for applications such as digging trenches; breaking into rock, concrete and asphalt surfaces; setting up trench boxes; levelling; lifting pipes; moving pallets/materials and loading trucks.  The low ground pressure of the new DX190W-3 wheeled excavator is well suited for off-road and soft-ground conditions.


Lower Total Cost of Ownership

The frame, boom, arm and undercarriage of the new DX190W-3 wheeled excavator have been reinforced for increased durability. As a result, the service life of the machine has been extended significantly, building on Doosan’s reputation for reliability and durability.

The new excavator has an easy-to-open, one part engine bonnet.  The DL06KB engine meets Stage IIIB emission regulations through the use of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) after-treatment technologies.  The DPF is securely locked in a specific compartment.  Filters, valves and batteries are within easy reach for service work.  Cooling capacity has been increased by 10 to 15% compared to the previous generation machine. 

As well as having more standard features than other wheeled excavators on the market, the new DX190W-3 model offers a greatly expanded choice of options, including a new floating boom system for easy levelling and finishing work.  For heavy duty applications, there is a dual pump option providing extra flow for high flow attachments.  Other options available include monobloc or articulated front working equipment, dozer blades, outriggers, cradle support, auxiliary hydraulic lines, an additional tool box, an air gun and compressor for cleaning and a microphone/speaker for increased safety on worksites.
