Global Launch for Doosan Articulated Dump Trucks

Doosan press event in Molde

Doosan celebrated the global launch of a new range of articulated dump trucks (ADTs) with an exciting week of events at the company’s ADT plant at Elnesvågen in Norway in mid-September 2011, attended by members of the international trade press, dealers and customers.

The week began with a major press event involving trade publications covering construction and mining sectors worldwide.  The impressive turnout of over 35 journalists from Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, Norway, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, Poland, Russia and South Africa, was welcomed by Doosan CEO, Tony Helsham, who stressed the importance of the ADT line as part of Doosan’s expanding product portfolio for global markets.

During his speech, Tony Helsham introduced Stefan Brosick, the General Manager of the Elnesvågen plant and Ewen Gilchrist, Global Business Director for the Doosan ADT range.  He praised the teams under Stefan and Ewen for the work they had done to deliver a new ADT range with the features requested by the market while maintaining the performance the industry demands.

As he would also say later in the week to an audience of Doosan dealers and prospective ADT customers, Stefan Brosick explained the change in the brand name from “Doosan Moxy” to “Doosan” on the new generation trucks.  This has been accompanied with a change in the model designation from MT to DA.  DA stands for “Doosan Articulated”, representing the complete integration into the Doosan Heavy equipment product offering.  In recognition of the unique history and excellent reputation of the Moxy name, however, the legal name of the Elnesvågen factory will continue to be Doosan Moxy AS.

For all the visitors, the next part of the itinerary was divided into four main activities including a presentation on the new ADT range and the aftermarket, a tour of the ADT factory, product demonstrations and test drives of the new DA30 and DA40 models and a preview of the new excavator and wheel loader ranges to be launched by Doosan.

Next to the Elnesvågen plant, there are several all-terrain courses for testing the new trucks during design and development phases and as part of the post production checks.  All the visitors watched as the new vehicles were put through their paces, easily negotiating a very testing rocky terrain and then driving skilfully through very muddy conditions and over very undulating surfaces.

Everybody leapt at the opportunity to test drive the DA40 truck for themselves and, under the guidance of a supervising test driver, they were able to take the trucks on a faster course which also includes an area of deeper water that forms no barrier to rugged vehicles of this type.  The feedback on the DA40 ADT was excellent from everybody who drove the vehicle.

Like all Doosan heavy equipment, the new range of ADTs is supported by a regional sales and service operation with strategically located parts depots to service a worldwide network of Doosan dealers.  All the depots have fully trained Doosan service and parts specialists to support our dealers and to ensure the customer experiences maximum uptime from their machine.
