Mason Brothers Plans Charity Digger Drive

Mason Brothers Plans Charity Digger Drive

Mason Brothers, the construction machinery company based in Narberth in Pembrokeshire, is seeking donations for a major nationwide charity event to raise funds and increase awareness for the Cardiac Risk in Young (C.R.Y.) foundation. Following several smaller regional events in support of C.R.Y., the new national fund-raiser will begin at 6 am on Monday 24th October 2011 and involves driving a Doosan DX140W wheeled excavator 874 miles non-stop from the northern tip of Scotland at John O’Groats to the southernmost point of England at Lands’ End in Cornwall. The event will be live on the internet with regular updates posted including photographs and DVD footage.

As an official dealer for Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment in West and Central Wales, Mason Brothers is delighted that Doosan will be their main partner of the event.  In addition, there are web page sponsorships via Facebook, Twitter and other sites for businesses to show their support with links to their company websites available.  The wheeled excavator can also be sponsored per mile or in a lump sum for the journey and sponsorship sheets are available for this purpose from Mason Brothers (Tel +44 01834 831653 and http://www.masonbros.co.uk/).  Complementing this, the team from Mason Brothers will be collecting donations from the public and businesses throughout the journey from the North to the South of Great Britain.

C.R.Y. was founded in 1995 to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YSCD); Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) and Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).  Among the services it offers, the foundation provides screening of young people to identify heart defects and other abnormalities associated with these conditions which could lead to early death.  The Mason Brothers event is called Deans Digger Drive in memory of Dean Mason, an employee of the company, who passed away last year from a heart defect which was not identified from standard screenings.  Dean was 26 at the time.  For more information on C.R.Y., please visit  http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/

As part of Mason Brothers, Dean Mason worked closely with Doosan, helping to set up the company’s stands and acting as a demonstrator at national shows such as Hillhead and SED.  He also assisted in customer demonstrations and dealer open houses elsewhere in Europe.  As a result of these activities, Dean was well known within Doosan and he was chosen to participate in prototype reviews at the company‘s facilities in Korea as well as several benchmarking activities in a quarry local to the Mason Brothers premises.
