Higher Specification of Medium Doosan Excavator Wins New Order from Contractor Cinwood Ltd.

The higher standard specification offered by Doosan medium and heavy crawler excavators compared to other machines on the market has resulted in a new order being placed by Cinwood Ltd., the excavation and groundworks contractor based at Corsham in Wiltshire, to purchase the company’s first medium-sized Doosan excavator.

Supplied by local Authorised Doosan dealer, Kellands (Plant Sales) Ltd of Bridgwater in Somerset, the new Doosan DX140LC excavator is currently working on its first project on a site 100 m from the sea at Clevedon in North Somerset.

Formed in 1981, Cinwood is a well-established, family run company undertaking excavation and groundworks contracts on road, drainage and housing projects throughout the South West of England.

Commenting on the purchase of the new Doosan excavator, Matt Storie, who runs the business with his father, Ian, said: “The standard specification of the Doosan excavators is very high, including several important features and options not available on other machines on the market and Kellands put together the best value package for our budget.

“The Doosan DX140LC crawler excavator is ideal for a wide range of excavation and general construction applications.  The standard cabin pack includes useful features such as a plastic cover that forms a lip at the top of the cab windows that keeps the rain off even when the window is open, minimising the amount of water getting into the cab and maintaining the high visibility all round the machine when the windows are closed.  Another standard safety feature is the rear-facing camera, pictures from which can be seen on the dashboard by pushing a button so you get an instant view of what’s behind you.  The standard package also offers a full set of roof-mounted lights all round the excavator, which are ideal for working on the shorter days in the winter.”

Powered by the Doosan DL06 diesel engine providing 71 kW (95 HP) at a maximum governed speed of 1850 RPM, the DX140LC excavator has a maximum digging depth of 5645 mm, a dump height of 8675 mm and a maximum digging reach of 8300 mm.  The 6-cylinder Doosan engine and e-EPOS operating system provide optimum productivity, controllability and fuel economy.  Weight balance is optimised to achieve higher lifting capacity and breakout force, while the class-leading ROPS cab offers unbeatable comfort and excellent all-round visibility.

Matt Storie continued: “The cab on the DX140LC is bigger than most and offers the comfort needed to work a long shift.  The hydraulics are very smooth and the performance of the new machine echoes the views we had from other companies running Doosan excavators in the area.  We’ve only heard good things about the Doosan range from these companies.”

Anthony Hogben, the Kellands sales representative for Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset, who was responsible for the sale of the new DX140LC excavator to Cinwood, commented: “The higher specification of the Doosan excavators also ticks all the boxes for meeting health and safety requirements demanded by many construction sites nowadays, including the check valves on the boom and dipper which retain the hydraulic oil in the pipes in the unlikely case of a hose failure.  The cabs on the machines also clearly display a simplified load chart on a sticker that gives operators instantly the limits for how much weight they can lift safely with the machine.”

The new 14 tonne excavator has joined a Doosan 5.5 tonne Solar 55 V Plus mini-excavator Cinwood purchased from Kellands five and half years ago and which is still performing well for the company today.  Matt Storie added: “We’ve been very impressed with the work of the Solar machine and the DX140LC is proving to be just as capable a performer.  It is an easy digger to use offering excellent stability and power for all the applications we carry out.”

With depots in Bridgwater and Camelford in Cornwall, Kellands (Plant Sales) Ltd is the authorised Doosan dealer for the whole of South West England, covering the counties of Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall, North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and Gloucestershire.
